About This Site
Status Droid is about how long software work actually takes, now that the relationship between time and output has come apart.
Who it is for
Someone running a small studio, freelancing, or leading a team of up to about ten. You work with an assistant every day. You cannot tell whether it made you faster, you do not know how to quote work any more, and you do not know what to say to a client who asks whether AI made it cheaper.
The site does not review tools. It is about measuring, estimating and pricing — the parts that outlast whichever model is current.
Who writes it
Placeholder: name, background, how long, what kind of work.
This is a blocking gap and it is stated rather than hidden. A site arguing that you should not trust unattributed claims about productivity cannot be an unattributed claim about productivity. It will be filled in before publication.
About this domain
This domain has a history and it is better stated than discovered.
statusdroid.com was previously a website monitoring service, launched in 2017. That product is no longer here. Later, the site carried paid link placements — promotional paragraphs for unrelated local businesses inserted into the page text, along with several off-topic articles. That has been removed, the access route was closed, and the links have been disavowed.
The domain is under the same ownership it always was. This site is a new project on it, and the previous contents are gone deliberately rather than by neglect.
What this site will not do
Review tools. They change quarterly, the comparisons are dominated by people selling them, and my own judgement about which one helped is exactly the unreliable instrument this site is about.
Publish productivity percentages. Not "30% faster" and not "19% slower." Both are readings of a distribution as a point.
Treat one study as consensus. The evidence base here is thin and the best single result has already been revised by its own authors.
Sell anything from a vendor in this market. No sponsorship, no affiliate links, no paid placements. Given what this domain was doing eighteen months ago, that commitment is worth stating explicitly.
What it will do
Attribute every figure to a source, with a date and a note on who produced it. Say when something rests on one study. Say when the honest answer is that nobody knows — which is more often than most writing in this area admits.
The standards are set out in full on the method page, and errors are logged on corrections rather than edited away.
